Andrea Grujic - born in Serbia Born in Belgrade, raised in Budapest, lived in Oslo and now, New York. Sounds somewhat hectic, right? Well, being a diplomat’s daughter comes with the nomadic, pack-the-boxes-on-the-fly lifestyle. With each move, she eagerly adapted to new people, cultures and languages.
Since she graduated from Hunter College with a major in Media Studies in 2018, Grujic has fully immersed herself in work. Along with a series of independent projects and freelancing, such as food blogging and photography gigs, she chose to dedicate her talents to the hospitality industry. Soon enough, “The Highwater,” a tropical-inspired bar in Astoria, became a second home where she has endless creative freedom.
As a media manager and beverage director Grujic worked closely with the owner on the marketing end of things to establish a brand and make his vision into a reality; from managing our social media accounts and generating content, to graphic/web design and cocktail creation.
Being a headstrong, project-oriented person allowed her to develop abilities in many different areas, such as photography, video editing, writing, languages, art, design, marketing, and even mixology. She can make a pretty mean cocktail.
Each creative outlet had the same component in common; whether it was through a website, video or cocktail, there was a story to be told. The intrigue with non-fiction stems from her own personal curiosity about how we can capture and translate them into various media forms.
